Eleven Totes/Bags

Close Up of one Bag

Eleven Totes or Bags

A month ago I had the opportunity to acquire a bunch of outdoor upholstery sample fabrics.  All are woven checks or plaids.  Love the variety of colors.  Felt inspired to make some totes. After 3, I had enough of that.  Then I started creating Messenger Bags.  After a few, I started making them smaller.  I was having fun until I hit bag 10.  By this time, I was bored.  After forcing myself to sew up the rest of the fabric today, I felt a sense of relief coupled with the enjoyment of looking at all of these wonderfully vibrant bags.  Because the fabric is meant for outdoor use, they are water resistant. Not water proof, but the water does flow off.  I think they would be GREAT for travel.  To me they look like spring, so I may wait to unveil them in my studio until then.  For now I wanted to post because I have completed my "70" self challenge.

These are seventy number 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, and 78.

Farm Theme Chemo Quilt

Farm Theme Chemo Quilt
40" x 60"

This pattern has become my favorite for comfort quilts.  It can be made in any size as long as the large square is twice the finished size of the finished small square. I made my squares 4" and 8" to produce a 20" finished square.  These size squares give me lots of opportunity to use leftover bits along with my square.  Of course I also like to use the center block for a texture square.  This time it is the sparkling blue corduroy.  I only use cotton in my chemo quilts so that I do not have to worry about a bad reaction to any chemical in man made fabric.

That cow on the middle left really has an attitude.  Have to admit, I really like that one the best.

The quilt didn't seem to have the vibrant punch I like in this type of quilt so I added the wild flannel backing plus the matching cotton striped fabric to give it a bit of a boost in the bright scale.

Favorite Charity Block

This can be made in any size as long as the finished size of the large block is twice the size of the finished size of the small block.  So many ways to play with these squares. Of course the large square could also be multiples.

This is seventy number 67.

'Dare to Do' - pieced

'Dare to Do' - pieced

This is actually my forth pieced panel.  After putting two together, I realized they were too large for me to add the necessary first panel.  I am enjoying putting this little bits together.  Using these lush, decorator fabrics with satin, glitz and velvet feels really good to me.  Love these combinations.  Of course these are my favorites to look at.  One major problem is working with the slippery fabrics and the velvet which seems to have a mind of its' own as it wiggles under the sewing machine.

Think I'll take a break and bind another chemo quilt.  Of course my mind will still be thinking about how best to put together one of these panels to cover my cupboard.
